Western Pacific Cities Share Health Solutions
WHO highlighted measurable and adaptable local programmes.
Nine initiatives received recognition at the 2026 WHO Healthy Cities awards in Sydney. The programmes address urban challenges including climate resilience, health equity, safe transport, nutrition, violence prevention and healthy ageing.
Among the recipients, Baguio City was recognized for village-level planning data, while Madiun's environmental programme addresses flooding and related health risks. WHO said the awards were selected from more than 150 submissions and are intended to help local governments exchange practical approaches.
