Put the story in your own words
Look away from the text for a moment. Say what happened, then check one detail in the story.
Make a two-sentence recap
First, name the people or place and explain the main event. Then add one detail that helps someone understand it.
Check your recap
Compare it with the English text: did you keep the names, dates and numbers correct? If the story describes a plan or possibility, did you avoid saying it has already happened?
