Read the story
France's next-generation TGV M departed Paris for Marseille on its inaugural journey on November 6, after several changes to its expected introduction date.
Built by Alstom for SNCF Voyageurs, the double-decker train has a modular interior that can be adapted for different passenger needs. SNCF says its design places particular emphasis on accessibility and comfort.
The operator says higher speed was not the goal of the new train. The initial fleet is intended to serve the Paris–Marseille route before services are expanded.
