In this lesson: Explain an all-round contribution and distinguish two kinds of achievement.

Read the story

Everton overturned a second-half deficit to defeat Coventry City 3–1 on November 6. After Yann Gboho opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, Thierno Barry equalised four minutes later and soon added a second.

Barry’s contribution extended beyond finishing. His pass set up Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for Everton’s third goal, completing a performance that helped transform the match.

David Moyes was managing Everton for the 592nd time, matching Harry Catterick’s club record. The occasion combined an individual managerial milestone with a team recovery; the record concerned matches managed, not victories.
