US employers added 165,000 jobs in October, compared with a revised gain of 60,000 in September. The Bureau of Labor Statistics released the figures on November 6.

The unemployment rate was 4.1%. Business services, health care and transport were among the industries adding jobs.

However, the number working part time for economic reasons rose by 339,000 to about 4.8 million. These workers wanted full-time jobs but faced reduced hours or could not find full-time work.
