Read the story

Kimi Antonelli has secured his first Formula 1 drivers’ championship, becoming the youngest world champion in the sport’s history. The 20-year-old Italian sealed the title by finishing third in the Mexico City Grand Prix on November 1.

Max Verstappen won the race for Red Bull, with Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton second. Antonelli’s third place was enough to put the championship beyond the reach of his rivals.

Sky Sports reports that four races remain this season. Antonelli is the first Italian Formula 1 champion since Alberto Ascari in 1953.
