Read the story

France's new TGV M high-speed train left Paris for Marseille on its inaugural journey on Friday. The trip follows years of development and delays.

The double-decker train can be arranged in different ways to suit passenger needs. SNCF says its design also improves access and comfort.

The railway company says the train was not designed to travel faster than existing TGVs. The first services are planned for the Paris–Marseille route.
