A Spacecraft Takes a Close Picture of an Asteroid

Name: __________________________ Date: __________________

Read the story

A European spacecraft called Hera has taken a close picture of an asteroid. Its name is Didymos. A smaller space rock, Dimorphos, moves around it.

In 2022, a NASA spacecraft hit Dimorphos on purpose. The test changed the smaller rock's path around Didymos. Hera will study what happened.

Most of Dimorphos is in shadow in the new picture. The team plans to share more detailed pictures of the two rocks on November 25.
