Audi Tries Robots for Car Parts

Read the story
Audi is testing mobile robots with Agile Robots in Ingolstadt, Germany. They pick up car parts and put them in the right order.
The work takes place in a production lab. It is a test, not a change across all Audi factories.
Picking a part and putting parts in the correct order are different jobs. A worker can receive the right items but still face a delay if they arrive in the wrong sequence. The test therefore concerns timing and order as well as movement.

Read and practise
What makes sequencing more than simply moving parts?
- Only the colour of the container matters
- The correct order matters
- The robots manufacture every component
What would the laboratory project not establish by itself?
- That a demonstration was being tested
- That engineers had a task to examine
- Reliable deployment across all factories
Your turn
Give a hypothetical example of the correct parts arriving in an unhelpful order.
