Apple Unveils OLED iPad Mini Ahead of November Release

How to use these two pages

Give learners the student worksheet. It contains the story and questions, without the answers. Keep this guide for yourself. Use it to lead the activity and explain the answers afterwards.

Student worksheet

A simple 15–20-minute lesson

  1. Before reading · 2 minutes

Show the title. Ask: “What do you think this story is about?”

  2. Read and answer · 8–10 minutes

Give out the student worksheet. Learners read for the main idea, then reread to answer the 2 questions. They can compare answers with a partner.

  3. Discuss and write · 5–8 minutes

Check the answers below together. Ask learners to point to the clue in the story, then finish with the open question.

Adjust the support: Let learners use word help or Level 1 if needed. For a challenge, compare the wording in another level. This activity is not a proficiency test.

Answers to the 2 questions

The question numbers match the student worksheet. Each answer includes a reason and the clue learners can find in the story.

  1. What can a reader conclude about October 26?

Correct answer: C — The device had been introduced but was not yet on preorder.

Why: The announcement precedes both later stages.

Clue in the story: Although the device has been announced, preorders do not open until October 28, with availability scheduled for November 6. The announcement, ordering window and release are separate milestones, rather than a single launch-day event.

  2. Which statement preserves the pricing qualification?

Correct answer: A — US prices begin at $699.

Why: Starting US pricing does not establish every model or market price.

Clue in the story: Apple introduced a redesigned iPad mini on October 26, featuring an 8.5-inch OLED display and an A20 Pro processor. US pricing starts at $699.

The open question: accept different answers

Ask learners: Explain the main development in your own words. Include one detail that helps a reader understand it.

One possible answer: The launch timetable has three distinct stages.

This is an example, not the only correct answer. Look for a relevant idea, a reason and the learner’s own words. Learners can answer aloud or write one or two sentences.
