Russia launched a large overnight attack on several Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Odesa, and Dnipro. Officials said at least 16 people were killed and many others were hurt.

Ukraine's air force said Russia used 659 drones and 44 missiles. It said many of them were stopped, but some still hit homes, offices, hotels, and other buildings.

In Odesa, officials said a strike hit a residential building and started a fire. Kyiv and Dnipro also had deaths, injuries, and damage in neighborhoods where people live.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the attack showed that allies should keep supporting Ukraine. The strike was one of the deadliest attacks on the country this year.
