Israel Says People Should Not Return Yet
Israel told residents in southern Lebanon to stay away from many villages even though a ceasefire is in place.
Israel said on April 20, 2026 that people in southern Lebanon should still stay out of many areas near the border.
The warning came even though a ceasefire had already started.
Reuters said the Israeli military marked a wide area and told residents not to return to dozens of villages. It also warned people not to go near the Litani River area.
Israeli forces say they are staying there because of continuing security threats from Hezbollah.
At the same time, local officials and Hezbollah figures also warned people that going back home is still dangerous.
This shows that the ceasefire is holding only partly. Fighting may be lower for now, but the area is still unstable and many families cannot safely return.
