Iran opens Hormuz as Lebanon ceasefire begins

Ships can move again and oil prices fell.

Iran said on Friday that commercial ships can travel through the Strait of Hormuz again. The waterway is very important because many oil and gas ships use it every day.

The announcement came as a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon started. Leaders said they wanted to stop new attacks and give talks a chance.

After the news, oil and gas prices went down. Stock markets in Europe and the United States moved higher because investors hoped the situation might become calmer.

Officials are still being careful. International groups said they were checking that ships can move safely, and leaders warned that the ceasefire could still fail if either side breaks it.
